Une interview que j’avais hâte de faire. C’est lors d’un (TRES) chaud jour de Juillet que j’ai eu la chance de réaliser une interview du trio originaire de l’Ohio, Valley of the Sun. C’est en effet lors de leur passage à la Bulle Café de Lille, le 1er Juillet dernier, que j’ai pu rencontrer la bande. Un grand merci à l’organisateur de l’événement, Roaring Tubes, de nous avoir organisé ça aux petits oignons !

INTERVIEW

Moi : Ok, we are with Valley of the Sun, first question, guys, and for me, it is the most important : How are you today ?

(Ok, on est avec Valley of the Sun, première question, les gars, et pour moi, c’est la plus importante : Comment vous allez, aujourd’hui?)

Valley of the Sun : Hot ! Cheezy ! (NDLR : Le trio mangeait un plateau de fromages français… autant vous dire qu’il a pas fait long feu). But good

(Chaud ! Cheezy ! Mais bien!)

M : Tonight, you play at La Bulle Café, in Lille. It is the first that you play here ?

(Ce soir vous jouez à La Bulle Café, à Lille. C’est là première fois que vous jouez ici?)

VTS : Yep

(Ouais)

M : But it is not the first time you play in France. What do you think about the french audience, the french crowd ?

(Mais c’est pas la première fois que vous jouez en France. Qu’est ce que vous pensez du public français?)

VTS : No, it’s not the first. They are amazing ! I love to play in France, specially in Club-show.

(Non, c’est pas la première fois. Il est incroyable ! J’adore jouer en France, surtout dans les petits clubs)

– Yeah, they like to dance with us… (Laugh).

(Ouais, ils aiment bien danser avec nous … (Rires))

-We have played in many small clubs. All away to Hellfest, and other festival, you know …

(On a joué dans beaucoup de petits clubs. Tout est parti du Hellfest, et d’autre festival…)

M : Like Motocultor ?

(Comme le Motocultor?)

VTS : Yeah. It’s one of my favorite. But my favorite place to play in France, it’s in Chambéry, caus’ it’s always crazy.

(Ouais, c’est un de mes préférés. Mais mon endroit préféré pour jouer en France, c’est à Chambéry, parce que c’est tout le temps dingue)

M : Today it’s the first day of your French tour, right ?

(Aujourd’hui, c’est la première journée de votre tournée française, c’est ça?)

VTS : Yes

(Oui)

M : Have you a date that you are impatient to play ?

(Une date que vous êtes impatient de faire?)

VTS : Chris (Basse) :Oh.. hard question… I’m exctited for the London Festival. I love this tour ‘cause we play festivals and club shows. And so, we get a chance like tonight in Lille. We don’t know, we just walk in and hope people come to see us. We’re not happier on a tall stage

Ryan (Guitar/Voice) For me, it’s Glasgow, in Scotland, and a the end of the tour, we are playing in a Festival in Italia. In this tour, we are in Germany all the time. I love play also in Germany. Oh, and in Slovaquia too, Bratislava

Johnny (Drums) : I’m excited for the UK. Specially in London

Chris (Basse)(Oh.. Dure question… Je suis excité pour le London Festival. J’adore cette tournée parce qu’on joue dans des festivals et des club-shows. Et donc, nous avons une chance comme ce soir à Lille. On sait pas trop, on arrive ici et on espère juste que les gens vont venir nous voir. On est pas plus heureux sur des grandes scènes

Ryan (Guitarre/Chant) Pour moi, c’est Glasgow, en Ecosse, et à la fin de la tournée, nous jouons dans un festival en Italie. Dans cette tournée, nous jouons beaucoup en Allemagne. J’aime beaucoup jouer là-bas aussi. Oh, et en Slovaquie aussi, à Bratislava

Johnny (Batterie) : J’suis excité pour l’Angleterre. Surtout pour Londres)

M : Tonight, you play with Ghost Town Dog’s. Have you listening the music of that band ?

(Ce soir vous jouez avec Ghost Town Dog’s. Vous avez écouté ce qu’ils font?)

VTS : Yeah, we have checked that before the show. It’s another excitting part of the tour : Meet new bands.

(Ouais, on a écouté ça avant le show. C’est une autre partie excitante de la tournée : Rencontrer d’autre groupes)

M : Do you listening some french bands ?

(Vous écoutez des groupes français?)

VTS : Well, Gojira. We have played with Djiin in Italy last year. And it’s a great band.

(Et bien, Gojira. Nous avons joué avec Djiin l’an dernier en Italie. Et c’est un super groupe)

M : How the band was created ?

(Comment le groupe a été créé ?)

VTS : I was in a other band, and we’ve lost our drummer and we have wanted to do one last record called Valley of the Sun. So the band begins at a 4 pieces, and now we are 3.

(J’étais dans un autre groupe, et nous avons perdu notre batteur. Et on voulait faire une dernière musique nommée Valley of the Sun. On a commencé à 4, et maintenant, c’est un trio)

M : Have you some new sounds incomming ?

(Vous avez de nouveaux sons en approche?)

VTS : We are going back in studio in September. With somes sounds of my ancient band. We don’t really need to do an other records right now. We’ve just release one

(On retourne en studio en Septembre. Avec des sons de mon ancien groupe. On a pas vraiment besoin de faire un nouvel album de suite. On vient juste d’en sortir un)

M : Personnally, what’s your favorite band ?

(Personnellement, quel est votre groupe préféré?)

VTS : Chris :Jimi Hendrix

Johnny : My favorite bands are Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Alice in Chains…

Ryan : Colour Haze, Helmet, Queens of the Stone Age… a lot of Grunge. A lot of Soundgarden too, but Colour Haze is my favorite

M : What is your best memories on stage ?

(Quels sont vos meilleurs souvenirs sur scène?)

VTS : Chris : My favorite are the moments that i don’t expect. It’s a part of Rock’n Roll, i guess. Going with the flow

Ryan : Our first show in Chambéry. It was very hot, we haved litteraly swimmed on our clothes, i’ve broked 2 strings on the same song. We’ved just stop the show for change my strings and take some fresh air, caus’ it was a Inside show

Johnny : 2 days ago, i’ve broked my snare in the middle of « Old Gods », and the drummer of the opening band saves that moment. He camed on the stage and helped me with that

(Chris : Mes moments préférés sont ceux que je n’attends pas. Ça a un p’tit côté Rock’N Roll, je pense

Ryan : Notre premier concert à Chambéry. Il faisait très chaud, on nageait littéralement dans nos vêtements, j’ai cassé deux cordes sur la même musique. On a arrêté le show pour que je puisse changer les cordes et qu’on puisse aller prendre l’air, car c’était un concert en intérieur

Johnny : Y’a deux jours, j’ai cassé ma caisse claire en plein milieu de « Old Gods », et le batteur du groupe de première partie a sauvé le moment. Il est venu sur scène et m’a aidé avec ça)

M : With which band would you share a date ?

(Avec quel groupe souhaiteriez-vous partager une affiche?)

VTS : Ryan : Coulour Haze

Chris : A tour with Greenleaf sounds cool

(Ryan : Colour Haze

Chris : Une tournée avec Greenleaf me paraît cool)

M : Oh yeah ! I’m a big fan of Greenleaf. And a date with Duel, maybe…

(Oh ouais ! Je suis un grand fan de Greenleaf. Et une date avec Duel, peut-être…)

VTS : Ryan :Yes, of course

Johnny : I would like play with King Buffalo

(Ryan :Oui, bien sûr

Johnny : J’aimerais bien jouer avec King Buffalo)
